Atlanta packs in concerts and festivals almost every weekend and this one is no exception! From EDM to Country, and Jam Band Rock, your musical appetite will be fulfilled this weekend.   We’re ready to get our dance on at Magnetic, relax in the meadow at Piedmont Park’s Dogwood Festival, and then get rowdy at Sweetwater 420 Fest!  Don’t forget to check out what’s happenin’ at our awesome local venues!

420 Music Festival is going on all weekend long from April 19th-21st, and unless you are buying VIP tickets, the event is free to attend, it doesn’t get much better than that! Also check out all of Sweetwater’s more than 20 unique beers!

Friday, April 19th-DJ MTK with Groove Status at Peachtree Tavern

If you are ready for an EDM filled weekend, your start is at Peachtree Tavern with DJ MTK. Both a performer and a producer, he will be spinning music all night long from bootlegs to original mixes. For a bass filled night head to Peachtree Tavern.

Friday, April 19th-Dead Confederate with The District Attorneys at The EARL

A rock band right out of Athens, Dead Confederate are no stranger to Atlanta and the Atlanta music scene. They also aren’t unfamiliar with entertaining a crowd. From SXSW to Bumbershoot to Bonnaroo to performing on Conan, Dead Confederate has been doing it all, and won’t leave an audience disappointed.

Friday, April 19th-Detroit Cobras at Star Bar

Detroit Cobras’ music can’t really be put into words. Their music is a collection all to itself. It’s supernatural and completely unreal in the way they mesh soulful vocals with R&B sass.

Friday, April 19th-The Greencards at Eddie’s Attic

This Grammy nominated bluegrass band won’t leave an audience wanting for more. They have the perfect eclectic mix of stringed instruments from the mandolin to violin, The Greencards won’t disappoint. Having performed at Lollapalooza to other huge festivals, they are the best bluegrass has to offer.

Friday, April 19th-The Swear with Hot Wives, Foria Robers Band, and Torsades at Vinyl

For raw, unhindered rock music, The Swear is what you need to listen for. They are from Atlanta and showcase local talent, and are driven forward by punk music. 2013 is a big year for the band with  “Gold and Hymns and Hell” being released, so check The Swear out at Vinyl for new music for the weekend.

Saturday, April 20th-Atlanta Dogwood Concert featuring Sara Evans at Piedmont Park

For 77 years, the Dogwood Festival has been taking place in Atlanta, and this year is no exception on the great music they will be showcasing. Not only will Sara Evans be at the festival, but Kurt Thomas will be opening for the award winning artist. Bring your family and enjoy a day of music, arts, and great food at Piedmont Park.

Saturday, April 20th-CBDB & Dank Sinatra at Peachtree Tavern

CBDB, right out of Alabama, are pushing Joyfunk music to the public. Meshing together progressie rock, funk, folk, and jam fusion, CBDB will be a treat of genre blending for all crowds. Joining them and Peachtree Tavern is Dank Sinatra.

Saturday, April 20th-Kyle Seitz at Eddie’s Attic

A little bit blues, and a little bit gospel, Atlanta native, Kyle Seitz has been making music since he was 5 years old. Being from Atlanta he took in all the flavors of the city and melded them into his own sound.

Saturday, April 20th-Magnetic Music Festival at Fifth Third Bank Stadium at Kennesaw State

Continuing the EDM trend for the weekend, Magnetic Music Festival is on Saturday. This is one of the biggest electronic festivals in the South, and the most innovative. There are some of the biggest names in the industry for a night of bass thumping, fist pumping, lazer light fun.

Saturday, April 20th-Micah Dalton with Angel Snow at Vinyl

He’s like an earthy version of Ben Harper, and any Ben Harper comparison is good with me. With a soul-filled voice, Micah Dalton will have the audience at Vinyl amazed at his talent. Don’t miss his performance with Angel Snow.

Saturday, April 20th-Sealions with On Holiday at The EARL

Sealions came with a mission. The Atlanta natives went out to create a band that would change the face of what is modern guitar rock and make it into something more personal, and a little more invasive than what bands are creating today. The duo is both retro along with hints of pop electric music.

Saturday, April 20th-Shannon Whitworth at Eddie’s Attic

Shannon Whitworth’s smokey, bluesy voice is going to fill Eddie’s Attic, and you won’t want to miss out. Her sultry vocals along with a real knack for songwriting makes her someone you won’t want to miss this weekend.

Sunday, April 21st-Matt Costa at Vinyl

Once an aspiring skateboarder, now turned musician, Matt Costa has worked extensively with both Jack Johnson and Modest Mouse. Don’t miss his performance at Vinyl for a chance to hear a unique blend of music.

Sunday, APril 21st-VietNam at The EARL

Recently (semi)reformed, VietNam has just recorded a new album, and then raised funds for a tour through KickStarter in just 4 days. That says something. Fans clearly wanted to have him touring again with his edgy lyrics and apt sense for musical style.
