Elisa Ambrogio

What’s Up Monday 1/12

Elisa Ambrogio (of Magik Markers) @ 529

Limbo as the space between heaven and hell where unblessed babies float, sighing; limbo as the supple-spined Calypsonian dance craze: here exists The Immoralist. Elisa Ambrogio, Magik Markers power front, lyric intelligence, guitar g’rilla, and awkward weirdo, is back (and forth, too) to deposit her first full length solo outing on yer doorstep! The Immoralist lies at the wicked crossroads of Wilson Pickett’s electric wail and the sweetest of Wilson Phillips harmonies. A pox on the venal mind too workaday and SEO oriented to pick up the x/y axis what she’s putting down!

Tickets are donations only. Doors open at 9pm.

Songwriter’s Open Mic Night @ Eddie’s Attic

Over 20 years strong, Eddie’s Attic Songwriter’s Open Mic Night is one of the most renowned open mic nights in Atlanta. National and local acts perform 2 songs each, with 3 finalists returning for a third song at the end of the evening for a chance to win a cash prize and a spot in the venue’s bi-annual, nationally acclaimed Open Mic Shootout. This is a great opportunity for up and coming talent to hone their skills and for listeners to see and meet the next big stars.

Tickets are $5 in advance, $6 at the door. Doors open at 7pm.

Periphery @ The Masquerade (Heaven)

The legendary traditions of progressive rock are not without critics. Detractors say the otherwise celebrated style lacks spirit. It lacks emotion. But Periphery smashed this misconception to bits across two full-length albums and a handful of unconventional releases. The band’s mind-bending instrumentation and diverse vocalizations are delivered with vibrant urgency and inescapable hooks that act as an inviting tip to the sonic iceberg lurking beneath. Periphery’s appropriately titled third full-length collection, Juggernaut, lays waste to all expectations within and without the genre.

Tickets are $17 in advance. Doors open at 6pm.
