What’s Up Monday? July 29th

kat edmonsonSupposedly the rain is going to hold out until Wednesday, so I’m thinking this is going to be one good Monday! Plus, Kat Edmonson is in town! I’ve heard she puts on a solid show! Check out what else is happening in Atlanta tonight. Lineup below!

Kat Edmonson with Special Guest Eliot Bronson @ Eddie’s Attic

Her self- released 2009 debut album Take To the Sky hit the top 20 on Billboard’s jazz charts, adding enough juice that she found herself playing gigs with Willie Nelson and Lyle Lovett. Determined to see through her creative vision and maintain control, Kat funded her second album, “Way Down Low” through a Kickstarter campaign. Despite its humble beginnings, Way Down Low recently debuted #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and has since landed Kat features on NPR’s “All Things Considered” and an upcoming taping on Austin City Limits Live. After selling out club shows in New York, Boston, Houston, and Los Angeles, Edmonson hit the road last fall supporting fellow Austin musician Gary Clark Jr. and later, Chris Isaak.

Paper Bird with Judson Claiborne @ The Earl

Since the band’s formation in 2007, Paper Bird has been playing its joyful blend of indie folk, roots, and Americana to delighted audiences nationwide. Their unique sound is a combination of a dynamic and energetic rhythm section intertwined with effortless and flowing harmonies and the group’s backbone is their songwriting, musicianship and a general aversion to all limitations and trends. With seven members and no designated leader, the possibilities for Paper Bird are constantly unfolding, with fluctuations in style and mood akin to weather patterns.
