Happy Tuesday Atlanta, how are you? I for one am sort of exhausted, but good…Mr. Butch Walker played Nashville last night and sang “Come on Eileen,” which I like to at least tell myself was dedicated to me! Anyway, if you are looking for something to do in remembrance of our great country today, here are some of my suggestions.

-Wander on over to The Earl tonight for Damion Suomi & the Minor Prophets. We have an interview with the band later on today, so stay tuned in!

Vektor is a progressive sci-fi thrash metal band. They portray the future as a bleak, barren wasteland that has been destroyed by greed, power, corruption, hate, violence, ignorance, and control. It is a journey into controversial places. If you are up for this, see them tonight at 529.

-Contemporary jazz-grass band, MILKDRIVE, features award-winning instrumentalists Brian Beken on fiddle and lead vocals, Noah Jeffries on guitar and harmony vocals, Dennis Ludiker on mandolin and harmony vocals, and Matt Mefford on double bass. But awards reveal nothing about the Austin string band’s exhilarating sound. Catch them for the late show tonight at Eddie’s Attic.

-“Jim Sykes of (Parts and Labor, Grooms) and Mark Shippy (U.S. Maple, Miracle Condition, Shorty) convene to form Invisible Things, a hybrid of textural, improv pysch, rock, and noise that builds upon Sykes’ background in Sri Lankan sounds and Shippy’s unorthodox guitar style. Georges Bataille Battle Cry opens. Red Sea headlines.” Tonight at The Music Room. –Creative Loafing
