What’s Up Tuesday? June 11th

night bedsHappy Tuesday Atlanta! Tonight is a very special night because our awesome coworker, Chris, and his band Misery Loves Chachi, are celebrating the release of their debut EP, Long Live the Lazy Choir at 529! We would love for you to come out and support our friend and his sweet band! Of course there are some other rockin’ shows going on tonight as well! Whichever show you decide to attend, it’s going to be a fun one!

Night Beds with Jenny O. @ The EARL

It’s difficult to say where Night Beds begins, but it could be here: August 2006, a young Winston Yellen is invited to a longtime friend’s apartment. They talk, they record a little aimlessly, and something exciting emerges. The songs that come out of those first few years, collected on three EPs (Night Beds, Every fire; Every joy, and Hide From It), are an exercise in catharsis. They’re deeply ringing things, washed in whiskey. The sound is like something emergent from a tunnel. Yellen’s voice takes on a pure kind of thirst when wrapped in the sonic landscapes he devises.

Marshall Ruffin with Special Guest, Cicada Rhythm @ Eddie’s Attic

The twenty-five year old roots-rock and blues singer-songwriter-guitarist grew up in typical Americana, where science was at the fabric of his family. After finding a guitar in his attic at age thirteen, Marshall taught himself to play. Just several short years later, he majored in jazz performance at the Berklee College of Music. It was while in Boston, Ruffin recognized and tapped into his songwriting skills and vocal gifts. After experiencing a Marshall Ruffin performance, one only expects his momentum to accelerate.

The Step Kids @ Vinyl

With their enigmatic live shows mixing music with psychedelic visuals, The Stepkids have consistently been noted as a “must-see act” at major festivals. Having spent most of 2012 touring with Kimbra, Mayer Hawthorne & The County, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, and Mates of State, along with tours of Australia and Europe, the Connecticut trio has been busy finalizing the details for their upcoming second album, due out in mid-June 2013. The follow up to their critically praised self-titled 2011 debut will include both “Sweet Salvation” and “Bitter Bug”, which were released on the “Sweet Salvation EP” in October 2012.

IDOL is respected as the original punk rocker who long ago found a way to take that sneering punk attitude into the pop and rock mainstream, carving out songs that have lasted a lifetime. The English rocker is hitting the stage at the Tabernacle tonight! This is a show you won’t want to miss!

Jack Daniel’s Honey Concert Series @ Smith’s Olde Bar

Cannibal Corpse @ The Masquerade

Formed in 1988, Buffalo born/Tampa raised Cannibal Corpse helped found, manipulate and transcend the very boundaries of death metal beginning with the scandalously controversial debut, Eaten Back To Life.
