What’s Up Tuesday, May 6th

Morning Parade

If you’re not headed out to Lady Gaga’s artRave tonight, here are a few equally awesome shows to check out instead.

Grouplove @ The Tabernacle

Grouplove’s latest album, Spreading Rumors, is an incredibly special album where soaring harmonies coupled with sweeping anthems lead you through their powerful journey. Like the members of GROUPLOVE, their music is diverse in influence and style but bonded together by an undeniably creative kinship.

Doors at 7pm. Tickets available at the door.

Earl Sweatshirt @ Masquerade

Earl Sweatshirt is a Los Angeles-based rapper and member of the Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (OFWGKTA) crew. Following in the footsteps of Eminem, Natas, and Esham, his languid style is a blend of highly personal alt-rap and morbid horrorcore.

Doors at 7pm. Tickets available at the door.

Morning Parade w/ Brick + Mortar @ The Drunken Unicorn

It’s a brand new day for Morning Parade, who’ve returned with a bold new full-length (Pure Adulterated Joy), on a new label (So Recordings/Caroline), that finds the band settled into a much tighter and more determined focus than ever before. It turns out that going back to the basics, sprinkled with a generous helping of adversity and change, was the precise formula needed for the alt-rock five-piece’s most accomplished effort to date.

Tickets are $10. Doors open at 8pm. Online and phone sales close at 4pm. This show is 18+.

Steve Gunn @ 529

Steve Gunn is a New York-based guitarist and songwriter. With a career spanning nearly fifteen years, Steve has produced volumes of critically acclaimed solo, duo, and ensemble recordings. His albums with GHQ and longtime collaborating drummer John Truscinski represent milestones of contemporary guitar-driven, forward music. A voracious schedule of international performances has cultivated a fervent fanbase for Gunn’s music throughout the world.

Tickets are $8. Doors open at 9pm. Online and phone sales close at 6pm. This show is 21+.

Zaib Khan w/ special quests Brett McNeill & Saleka Shyamalan @ Eddie’s Attic

Zaib Khan is an American singer-songwriter born in Shreveport, Louisiana. Zaib and his family moved to the Atlanta area in 1989 where he was nestled between two major musical influences: Middle eastern and western music. Zaib’s current musical style encompasses mostly soul, folk and R&B.

Tickets are $8 in advance, $12 at the door. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Online and phone sales close at 5pm.
