What’s Up Wednesday? June 26th

deafheavenHappy Hump Day Atlanta! The toughest days of the week are over and now we look forward to the awesome weekend! Again, we have a lighter schedule tonight, but who’s complaining? There are five good reasons listed below to grab your friends and hang out at one of your favorite local venues tonight! Cheers!

Deafheaven with Marriages @ The EARL

Deafheaven was formed in February 2010 in San Francisco, California by vocalist George Clarke and guitarist Kerry McCoy, who previously performed in a band together. Their debut album, Roads to Judah, was released on April 26, 2011 through Deathwish. The title of the album is a reference to the N Judah light rail that provides transportation in Deafheaven’s hometown, and lyrically the album is about Clarke’s “year of substance abuse and debauchery.” Deafheaven recently released their second full length, Sunbather, on June 11. McCoy described the material as being “faster, darker, a lot heavier and far more experimental” than Roads to Judah.

Hero + MORE! @ The Drunken Unicorn

It truly is a “family affair!”- Four blood brothers, multiple musical talents, and one big dream are the motivating factors that keep this band steadily moving toward a successful music career that touches lives around the nation and world. Like many artists, this band of brothers started singing in the church. Coming from a musically inclined family, this is no surprise. “Music is in their blood”; and that is why the Hero sound is so rich with soul, electric energy, and wholeness.

The Golden Pelicans + MORE! @ 529

Orlando’s hard punk band, The Golden Pelicans, will be playing at 529 tonight along with Gino & The Goons, Get High Boys (GHB) and Salts. Come out and support!

Venomous Maximus @ The Masquerade

Venomous Maximus is a Dark Heavy Metal band from Houston, TX. The sound combines intense, unabashed metal riffing that locks into heavy rock grooves featuring interjected dual leads and surprisingly darkened atmospheres.
