5GB With Chase Rice; Playing The 120 Tavern & Music Hall, Jan. 10th

CR-16 (2)Dirt Road Communion marks the first full length project for Chase serving up his concoction of contemporary country spiked with shots of rocking guitars, explosive crescendos, hands in the air grooves and lyrical content that swings like a pendulum from loud and fun to dark and vulnerable. When his isn’t on stage opening up for acts like Jake Owen, Sara Evans, Lee Brice or Corey Smith, you’ll find him penning tomorrow’s hits with his songwriting circle that continues to grow. He joined us for our 5GB series before his show.

What’s the first gig you ever attended?

My first show was Garth Brooks in Charlotte, NC when I was a little kid. It was game over after that show. I was in love with country music.

What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?

The best gig so far was Joes Bar in Chicago last November. It was one of those nights where everything just clicked. That was my first sold out show ever and we played the best we have played. My buddies Stephen and Eric of Love and Theft and Brian and Tyler of Florida Georgia line showed up to and surprised me on stage. That was truly a very cool night for me.

What is the best gig you have ever seen?

Have you ever gotten to see Garth Brooks in an arena? There’s not many people who can do what Garth does. He just brings it every time. A close second would be the first time I saw Eric Church. It was in Raleigh, NC. That man is a badass on stage.

What is the gig you would most like to play?

I’ve always wanted to play the Red Rock Amphitheater out in Colorado. I’ve heard so many awesome things about it. I’d love to give it a shot. Just one look at the venue is all you need.

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?

Well if the two best shows I’ve ever seen were Garth Brooks and Eric Church, throw those two together and let me open. Ha, I don’t see anything being cooler than that! Add a surprise appearance by Kenny Chesney who I also grew up on and I’ll head out on that tour tomorrow. Where’s the first stop?
