Diamond Rugs is a collaboration between John McCauley (Deer Tick), Robbie Crowell (Deer Tick), Ian Saint Pé (The Black Lips), Steve Berlin (Los Lobos), Hardy Morris (Dead Confederate) and Bryan Dufresne (Six Finger Satellite). Luckily for us, the band has plenty to say in their songs, even though they are at a little bit of a loss for words below. I’ve seen these boys live..they are great and worth checking out. They joined us for our 5GB series before their show tomorrow night at The Earl.
What’s the first gig you ever attended?
Tom Jones. With my Mom and my Grandmother. I was three and I guess it was a mess with women throwing their bras and screaming. I don’t really remember it too well. My parents took me to see Sammy Davis Jr. when I was a few years older and I remember all of it. That cat sang, danced, played drums- everything. It was really cool, left a huge impression on me.
