5GB With Into It, Over It; Playing Vinyl, Oct. 29th

Into It. Over It. is made up of singer-songwriter Evan Weiss who will be backed by a full band for the first time on tour.   The band is touring in support of a new vinyl box set called 52 Weeks, which is being released on October 16.  52 Weeks is an adventure Weiss set out on in 2007, when he decided to embark on a year long project that would eventually result in his writing, recording and releasing one new song every week.   The collection will be released on limited edition vinyl for the first time ever in October. He is playing Vinyl on Oct. 29th and joined us for our 5GB series.

What’s the first gig you ever attended?

When I was around the age of 6 or 7 my parents took me to the Mann Music Center in Philadelphia for Soul Asylum, Screaming Trees and Spin Doctors. Had no idea how great that lineup was at the time.

What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?

I’ve been playing shows for so long in so many different bands that there are so many that stick out. The best one in recent memory was in a college lecture hall in Stockholm Sweden. It was amazing to be part of something so intimate so far from home.

What is the best gig you have ever seen?

Pearl Jam. Madison Square Garden. On their tour supporting Yield. I had just become a teenager. They were my favorite band. I was speechless.

What is the gig you would most like to play?

Currently, it’s these full band shows coming up. I’ve never done any as IIOI before. I’m so nervously excited.

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?

Sunny Day Real Estate, Mark Kozelek. That’s it. Two bands. Long sets.
