5GB With Saint Motel; Playing The Masquerade, July 31st

Indie-pop quartet, Saint Motel, are from Los Angeles and have been gaining a lot of buzz recently. They are known for their colorful events in LA (in this case their Zombie Prom). They joined us for our 5GB series before their show at the Masquerade on July 31st.

What’s the first gig you ever attended?

A/J – I was about 3 or 4 years old and remember my mom and her friend taking me to 1st Ave in Minneapolis. There was a hair metal band playing but my Mom was just there to hang out and grab a drink with her friend. I do remember leopard tights on the singer though.

Greg – I went to a lot of bagpipe competitions with my Grandpa when I was around four or five. And yes, I was fully wearing a kilt. Sexy.

Sharp – Crosby Stills Nash Young

Dak – All – Each one is better than the last!

What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?

That’s tough but I guess I would say Comfest in Columbus in 2011. The crowd was huge and excited. I think it was when people really started to pay attention to me in my hometown.

What is the best gig you have ever seen?

A/J – The show Greg put on last night while almost getting in a fight with a security guard at a local pool in Sacramento was pretty good.

What is the gig you would most like to play?

A/J – In space opening for David Bowie.

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?

Hmmm, it’d have to be full of amazing people to be a concert. It’d be more like a party. Or orgy depending…

Catch Saint Motel July 31st @ The Masquerade.
