5GB With The Quaildogs; Playing The Loft, Sept. 7th

A folk band in appearance, a rock band in sound, and a total gentleman in the sack, Atlanta Rock and Roll Sensations® The Quaildogs have turned heads and moved feet at sell-out shows throughout Atlanta since 2011. Fresh off the release of their debut EP “Extended Play,” an album heralded by local media as “coming out in January” and “available at most digital retailers,” The Quaildogs have spent their first year as a band sharing the stage with acts such as Marc Broussard, Futurebirds, Whiskey Gentry, The Hackensaw Boys, Three Blind Wolves, The Wood Brothers and The District Attorneys, among others. They are celebrating their EP (which you can listen to here: http://thequaildogs.bandcamp.com) and the first 50 people through the door get a FREE hard copy of the new EP.

What’s the first gig you ever attended?

The B-52’s at Chastain Park in 1990. Rock Lobster! I was 5 years old and my Uncle Bo took my cousin Phinizy and I. It poured rain, but from what I remember it was a great show.

What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?

We played at the Red Stripe Midsummer Music Festival this year. It was pretty awesome getting to play directly before The Wood Brothers, Futurebirds, and Dirty Dozen Brass Band. Rob, Michael, and Lee studied music at Loyola University New Orleans. They studied under Gregory Davis who is a founding member of Dirty Dozen and the lead trumpet player. It was pretty great to reunite with him backstage.

What is the best gig you have ever seen?

Wilco at Tipitina’s in New Orleans” – Rob
The Flaming Lips at City Stages in Birmingham in 2008 – Paul
Monsters of Folk in Atlanta or Wilco at Coney Island – Lee

What is the gig you would most like to play?

Newport Folk Festival, Ryman Auditorium, Red Rocks, Fenway Park.

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?

Me and Duane Allman – Paul
The Band, Springsteen, Wilco – Rob
All-star group consisting of Jim James, John Prine, Jack White, Derek Trucks, and Grace Potter. – Lee
