Country music singer/songwriter, Nathan Ware, was born in Alpharetta, GA 1986. His inspiration came from his family’s southern gospel group called The Ware Boys. Through studying vocal dynamics and guitars, Ware developed a musical dream of his own. His interests as a country music singer began at the age of 14, when he received his first guitar. Ware spent most of his high school years playing in talent shows and performing at the local coffee shop, The Serene Bean. It wasn’t long until he began to mirror his true-life struggles into his own songs. His pursuit of being a full-time singer/songwriter launched following his high school graduation in 2005. After a few recording deals fell through, Ware began to give up on his dream. A couple years later he was introduced to Sugarland’s band leader, Scott Patton as well as pro-recording engineer, Bruce Bennett who both took on an interest in Ware’s talents. In 2009, Ware, under the encouragement and direction from Patton and Bennett recorded a three song demo CD.
In more recent years, Nathan Ware has been playing with his band made up of Shane Pressley on lead guitar, Adam Wetzel on rhythm guitar and back-up vocals, Matt Karb on bass guitar and back-up vocals, and Robbie Smith on drums.
In anticipation of their Buckhead show at Park Bench Friday night, I sat down with Nathan Ware to discuss his influences, upcoming shows, and big dreams for his band.
AMG:Who are your biggest musical influences? Where does the inspiration come from for your music?
NW: Hank Williams Jr., Merle Haggard, Sawyer Browne, David Allan Coe. His inspiration came from his family’s southern gospel group called The Ware Boys.
AMG:How long have you all been making music together?
NW: 2 and a half years.
AMG:What’s your band’s biggest accomplishment?
NW:Two of our songs [Earney Road, Where Do I Go?] got six weeks collectively of air play on 94.9 The Bull during their Saturday night program “Backyard Country”.
AMG: Any upcoming shows or releases you want to let fans know about?
NW:1/25 at Park Bench in Buckhead, 2/9 at Double OO in Athens, Tennessee, 2/23 at Guston’s in Woodstock.
AMG: If you could open for any musician or band, who would it be?
NW: A modern artist would be Eric Church, but if it could be anyone I would go for the original Lynyrd Skynyrd or Zeppelin.
AMG: What are your future plans or dreams for your band?
NW: For one of our songs to go number one or for us to have an album go gold or platinum.
