Aaron Lee Tasjan with Special Guests, Courtney Jaye, Tim Easton, and Eliza Rickman at Eddie’s Attic

As you listen to the songs on his latest EP, Crooked River Burning, you begin to understand that while Tasjan seemingly works endlessly to bring his music to whomever will listen out on the road, he is also singing these songs because he has to. There is pain within the reedy Midwestern drawl of his voice but also the ability to laugh at life’s misfortunes and ultimately transcend them by putting into words and music all of his thoughts and experiences along the way.

Doors at 6:30 p.m. Ticket: GA $8 in advance, $12 at the door. Table seats are $10 and must be purchased in multiples of 4.

His band, Galaxie 500 emerged from Boston in 1988, and made three celebrated albums for Rough Trade (recently reissued on Domino Records). “Galaxie 500 were the ultimate cult group,” wrote Bookforum, “a band who set the stage for the indie scene of the 21st Century.” His next band, Luna, recorded seven albums for Elektra and Beggar’s Banquet (including Penthouse, on Rolling Stone’s list of best albums of the 90’s), followed by three albums as Dean & Britta (with Britta Phillips).
