Cheryl Wheeler with Special Guest Steff Mahan at Eddie’s Attic

You probably won’t recognize the name, Cheryl Wheeler, but you most definitely recognize her music. She is a highly respected songwriter whose songs have been covered by Dan Seals, Peter Paul and Mary, Kenny Loggins, Garth Brooks, Suzy Boggus, Melanie, Bette Midler, Maura O’Connell, Sylvia, Kathy Mattea, and Holly Near. If these artists can’t get enough of her, then just imagine how you will react to her beautiful voice and amazing music! Her recorded work doesn’t do her justice though. Half the songs she performs live haven’t even been recorded! Cheryl normally performs around the DC area so it will be a treat to have her down south with us at Eddie’s tonight! Her shows are engaging, and at times create the feeling you’re in a comedy club rather than a concert venue! You surely don’t want to be left out of this entertaining evening.

Doors at 6:30 p.m. Tickets: GA $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Table seats are $31.25 and must be purchased in multiples of 4. Online and phone sales close at 5 p.m.

I Want Whiskey with Lily and the Tigers at The EARL

Also appearing: Avi Jacob

I Want Whisky brings together punk into southern roots music by incorporating traditional styles and instrumentation. The band draws from a wide range of influences such as Leadbelly, Bill Monroe, The Pogues, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and Woody Guthrie. Their subject matter is occasionally confrontational, but this Atlanta band breathes a new life into southern tradition with standards and original works alike. Their music brings back to life the American attitude of good times, hard work, life, love and rebellion.

Down the well-traveled highways of America comes Lily and the Tigers, rambling from town to town, infecting cities and towns with their arresting indie folk. Each song spins an intricate web of love and friendship while betraying a dark, pastoral Southern Gothic undercurrent. Depending on the night, you might find the tight-knit group on a candle-lit front porch swapping songs ’til sunrise, or perhaps churning through a set at some jampacked outdoor festival, winning broken hearts & minds while warming up the crowd for artists like Bela Fleck, Shearwater or O’Death.

Doors at 8:30 p.m. Tickets: $5 Online and phone sales close at 6 p.m.
