Taking their name from a passage in Henry Rollins’ memoir Get in the Van, KEN mode (short for Kill Everyone Now) are a Canadian noise rock band hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Brothers Jesse and Shane Matthewson, the band’s two consistent members (who handle guitar/vocals and drums, respectively), have rounded out their numbers with an illustrious collection of bassists, including Electro Quarterstaff’s Drew Johnston, Mares of Thrace’s Thérèse Lanz, and Khann’s Andrew LaCour (to name a few). With a punishing metallic sound, the band expands on the solid foundation laid down by AmRep titans like the Jesus Lizard and Unsane, harnessing those bands’ sense of aggression and agitation while considerably upping the intensity.

From Wiki –

The H.O.R.D.E. Festival began in 1992 as a solution to the dilemma of five east coast bands that sought to avoid the club circuit in the summertime when other larger bands were playing to sold out amphitheater’s.

Inspired by the previous summer’s success of Perry Ferrell’s Lollapolooza, John Popper and Blues Traveler called upon their friends Widespread Panic, The Samples, The Spin Doctors, The Aquarium Rescue Unit and Phish to join them in a nationwide summer amphitheater tour. After originally christening the traveling spectacle “Horizons of Rock Developing East Coast”, the vision spread to “Everywhere”, and so the name was created.

Bob Log III with Rod Hamdallah and The GTV’s at The EARL

Saturday, October 20th at 9pm

Should you never have had the joy of seeing Bob Log III play, let me attempt to describe it for you: picture a man in a shiny blue jumpsuit and a pilot’s helmet wired to a telephone receiver, playing slide guitar with all the dirty, scuzzy joy in his heart. Add to that a kick drum and foot cymbal, the myth of a monkey paw in place of a right hand, and a setlist that includes songs named Boob Scotch, Bubble Strut and My Shit Is Perfect, and you’ll begin to get the gist. It is loud and strange and electrifying, and how ecstatic it all sounds, that guitar glazed with a kind of sublime and honey-dipped. happiness.theguardian.com 2011

Hailing from Atlanta, GA, garage rocker Rod Hamdallah has been tearing up the southeast music scene since before he was old enough to have his first drink. By age 16, rod was soaking up garage rock and southern delta blues and mastering it technically at a relentless pace. Subsequently influenced by early soul as well, Hamdallah took his music to yet another level; and by age 17, he was sharing the stage with influences such as blues prodigy Sean Costello, jack white mentor Dexter Romweber and many, many more. The elements in rod’s original musical are rooted in blues, garage and early soul. Dark storytelling and american roots music play a big part in his songwriting as well. He creates a sound that can be likened to such artists as Flat Duo Jets, Captain Beefheart and the Black Keys.
