Friday, March 30th at 8:00pm

Event Link

Founded in Atlanta in 1978, The Swimming Pool Qs were among the first generation of Georgia’s celebrated New Wave bands that included THE B-52’s, THE BRAINS, PYLON and R.E.M. The Swimming Pool Qs developed the confident live presentation they have maintained into the present era.

Founder of Let’s Active and co-producer of R.E.M.’s Murmur and Reckoning, songwriter/ guitarist Mitch Easter is one of the giants to emerge from the South’s original New Wave & Post-Punk explosion.

The Difference Machine + Buy Muy Drugs @ 529

Friday, March 30th at 9:00pm

Event Link

Buy Muy Drugs is an experimental hip hop duo comprised of producer, Azarias and vocalist, Denmark Vessey. The group’s sound is 45 minutes of designer dissonance. An Afro-Brazilian percussive mien hybridized with the aggressive, federally-sanctioned genre, “loom-bap”. The bass-drunk 909s, programmed to stomp mud-holes throughout the full-length’s soundscape, drive the manic transitions between maximal bliss and minimal dystopia.

There are many planes of consciousness, but in the one that we call the here and the now, The Difference Machine are a psychedelic hip-hop group from Atlanta, Georgia. Since 2011, they’ve been at the vanguard of the city’s underground scene, creating gritty, mind-expanding anthems that explore the unifying lines between conscious rap and abstract soundscapes, the dividing wall between the blood-stained realities of twenty-first century urban America and the sublime mysticism of an opaque universe.

Yacht Rock Schooner @ The Vista Room

Saturday, March 31st at 8:00pm

Event Link

The Yacht Rock Schooner throws the smoothest dance party on the high seas, taking you and your guests on a journey to a time when good-times music had heart and musical integrity. The 8-man Schooner specializes in the smooth sounds of the late ’70s and early ’80s. It’s a party that spans generations, and the band is comprised of some of Atlanta’s top players with a dual keyboard setup, multiple ace vocalists and (of course) a sax man. Doors Dinner and Drinks at 7:30. Grab a table and order dinner before the show and ensure a premium viewing spot for the show at 9:00 pm

Midnight Larks LP Release w/ Reverends & Twisty Cats @ The Earl

Saturday, March 31st at 9:00pm

Event Link

Atlanta musical trio Midnight Larks, who formed in the spring of 2015, are issuing their debut album this month. The dozen reverb-drenched songs on the self-titled vinyl LP showcase the band’s rousing blend of garage rock, surf noir, girl group, psychedelic and country sounds. The band’s members are some of the more active in Atlanta’s current indie rock scene. Guitarist/organist/vocalist Sasha Vallely – a native of England who logged time in LA bands The Warlocks and Spindrift – helms a thrashy two-piece wrecking crew called Sash the Bash; bassist/guitarist/vocalist Nikki Speake also plays bass in Atlanta quartet Shantih Shantih and leads her own honky-tonk group, Nikki & the Phantom Callers; and drummer/backing vocalist Pietro DiGennaro drums for Atlanta garage rock blasters Bad Spell and DJs at various local clubs.
