Atlanta Music Guide Weekend Preview 4/6 – 4/8 2018

Here’s a quick look at some of the best events Atlanta has to offer this weekend Friday, April 6th through Sunday, April 8th!

TRASH PANDA W/ THE GET RIGHT BAND & GLASS HOUSE POINT AT VINYL

Friday, April 6th at 8:00pm

Event Link

Trash Panda is a new and rapidly rising band from Atlanta, GA. After the successful release of their debut EP, Off, which charted their third single “Giuseppe” to number 2 on both Spotify’s US and Global Viral charts (making it just below the weeknd’s “starboy”), it was evident Trash Panda had created something new and fresh. Their live show at one moment can be aggressive and wild and transfuse to a calm, hip-shaking spacey groove.

The Get Right Band is “hip-shaking, earthquaking pure funk fun” (The Alternate Root). Combining catchy, clever, honest songwriting with musical expertise and fearless improvisation, the live show promises to move your head, heart, and hips.

Ambient swells, soothings lulls, and massive bursts of lucid passion put Glass House Point’s music into a category of its own: a category that has yet to be explored by today’s indie artists.  Collectively, they brandish their music with crisp harmonies, synths, and string ensembles. Overall the sound is sophisticated, yet untamed — a quite beautiful contradiction.

BIT BRIGADE PERFORMS “THE LEGEND OF ZELDA” AT THE EARL

Friday, April 6th at 9:00pm

Event Link

When Bit Brigade rolls into town, the gamer elite hang up the controller for the evening and see a rock show. With unprecedented attention to detail and post-rock bombast, Bit Brigade meticulously replicates every musical cue, cutscene and boss battle in perfect syncronization with master gamer Noah McCarthy’s inspiring speed-run of each level. Composed of members of Cinemechanica, Maserati, and We Versus The Shark, Bit Brigade elevates game music to its proper place in the foreground of epic technical rock and plays the games like they don’t need the extra lives. Which, for the record, they don’t.

CURTIS HARDING AT THE EARL

(LOW TICKET WARNING)

Saturday, April 7th at 9:00pm

Event Link

Curtis Harding’s definition of “soul” is a broad one. Soul is the essence, not the form. He found soul in Atlanta’s punk scene, he found it at rap shows, he heard it on Bob Dylan records and found kinship with people who heard it the same way. Harding once found soul blaring through the speakers in an Atlanta bar where Black Lips’ Cole Alexander was spinning the same classic gospel his mother raised him on. Yet still, “soul man” seems too simple a description for musician like Harding, a man who has lived multiple lives as a musician, participated in different scenes, and brought all those varied sounds and experiences together to carve out his own unique niche. The culmination of his experimentation is his latest masterwork, Face Your Fear. THIS SHOW WILL SELL OUT!
