Dr. Dog comes to The Earl

Drdog_2Dr. Dog will be playing The Earl on September 6th in support of their new studio album, FATE. Released on July 22nd, FATE is the follow up to the band¹s critically acclaimed album WE ALL BELONG, which critics and fans alike hailed as one of the best albums of 2007.

Along with Rolling Stone, Paste, the Wall Street Journal and NPR, among many others, Entertainment Weekly recently called Dr. Dog "the kings of fuzzy beard-rock revivalism" and went on to say "this Philly quintet has expertly honed its loving tribute to the past perfect." Alternative Press praised FATE as "a stunning addition to the group’s impeccable groove-oriented stockpile" while Filter Magazine raved FATE is full "of alt-rock’s sweetest and freakiest harmonies, melodies and pop sensibilities" and songwriters Scott McMicken & Toby Leaman "carry on a tradition of soulful writing and musicianship … that instantly take aim at one’s heartstrings."

Fellow musicians have also recognized Dr. Dog¹s ability to blend classic rock hooks with lush vocal harmonies. Dr. Dog has shared the stage with the likes of Wilco, My Morning Jacket, The Raconteurs, The Strokes and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. In addition, long-time fan, Beck remixed the band’s song "The Girl" for a special 7-inch and Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy raved in his New York Times Playlist "everything about Dr. Dog and the way they sound draws on my favorite stuff on earth."

What started in the basement of a farmhouse in Pennsylvania has developed into an inventive and magnificently realized band that plan to spend 2008 and 2009 supporting their most stunning release to date.
