Party with The Drownout at Vinyl

The_drownoutThis Saturday, The Drownout will celebrate the CD release of their newest album Paper Trails and Binds at Vinyl. They have good reason to celebrate considering that Paper Trails and Binds is one this year’s most infectious rock-dance albums.

Paper’s first track, “High Waters”, combines the band’s musical rock influences with catchy Brit-pop dance beats. The song’s cheering background vocals alone make you want to join whatever party they are at. Although the album’s remaining tracks sustain the energy of “High Waters,” they loose some of the carefree, uninhibited, tone that makes “High Waters” so engaging. Not a bad thing, that’s what happens when you knock the first track out of the park, just ask The Switches’ about “Drama Queen.” The remaining tracks are by no means disappointing; tracks such as “Mediocrity” and “Untitled” are well orchestrated, and “Paper Trails” has a transmittable urgent energy about it that you can’t help but rock-out to.

Paper Trails and Binds is a nice follow up to 2006’s In Flagrante Delicto. In Flagrante remains an entertaining rock album, but in between albums The Drownout has managed to solidify their sound and up the musical tempo, in turn helping them bring back popular New Wave beats, which we haven’t seen in rock for awhile.

Don’t miss The Drownout’s dynamic onstage performance at Paper Trails & Binds release party Saturday, September 6 at Vinyl. They will also be joined by Ski Club and Sealions. Find Tickets!
