Unknown Mortal Orchestra coming to Variety Playhouse

Unknown Mortal Orchestra at Variety Playhouse on Sunday, July 8th.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra continues to bridge the gap between punk and funk with their 4th album, Sex & Foodthat released in April via Jagjaguwar.  It confronts real-deal serious themes such as “What are we consuming? How is it affecting us, and why does everything feel so bad and weird sometimes?” Through a vibrant sonic lens combining funk, doom-thrashing rock, and pink-hued psychedelic disco, the album appeals to fans of artists like Beach Fossils and Deerhunter on one end and Thundercat and Questlove on the other . The LP was recorded all over the world, including Seoul, Hanoi, Reykjavik, Mexico City, Auckland, and Nielson’s home base studio in Portland.
