What’s Up Thursday?

By Eileen Tilson / @tktalt_tn

Wow this week feels like it it just flying by, and finally kids, I think we are hitting fall! I hope everyone is having a great week getting ready for an even better weekend. We have said it before, Thursday is the new black (and in this case AND orange!) so here are some fun events to keep your mind occupied before the massive sugar rush.

Mike Doughty got a band together to tour his album Yes And Also Yes, which features contributions from Rosanne Cash and Nikki Sixx.  It’s loud and groovy, with the trademark Doughty surreal, rhythmic lyrics, and fabulous angst. See him tonight at The Loft.

-I. Love. This. Band. In fact, these boys get all sorts of loving here in Nashville. The Alternate Routes play music for your Americana soul. Don’t miss them live tonight at Vinyl.

-There is not too much good music that comes out of Ohio, but man when it does, it is great! Think Pretenders, The Black Keys, and rockers, Red Wanting Blue who will be showing that they are more than corn fed tonight at Smith’s Olde Bar.

-Living between Berlin and Bristol whilst working as a political journalist and music promoter, electro-princess, Anika met Bristol band Beak>. Immediately it was clear that they shared the same musical vision; a love of punk, dub and 60’s girl groups. Catch her while she is on our side of the pond tonight at The Basement in East Atlanta.

-But if you are looking for a little devil in your life, take your spiked tail straight to The Masquerade, where the Most Reverend Horton Heat will be holding his own very special sermon.
