What’s Up Tuesday? March 5th

rouge

It’s Tuesday and we took a little break from our “What’s Up” segment, but it’s back in full force and we’re ready to keep you posted on the shows each day! I don’t know about ya’ll, but I’m glad to see that we’re creeping out of the cold winter weather and into spring! We’re ready to fill our appetites with a healthy heaping of concerts and festivals…

Here’s what’s happenin’ today:

The Rouge with special guest, Jacque Jordan @ Eddie’s Attic

Love a good Nashville rock band? So do we! Even before the release of their first major label record, the guys in The Rouge have already lived an epic rock’n’roll tale, one filled with incredible highs, humbling depths and everything in-between. And their journey — from near homelessness to the verge of stardom — was an absolute necessity, if you ask the band.

Acid Baby Jesus w/ Hellshovel @ The Earl
The debut full length tidal wave from Greece’s ABJ. A Mediterranean concoction of two of our favorite “Black” bands (Sabbath/ Lips), ABJ represents the future of heavy psych’n’roll from an isolated, ancient civilization. Combining the ruthless elements of American outlaw roots music and celestial glam rock, like fellow deconstructionists Demon’s Claws, “LP” suggests the Rolling Stones at their wearied best, with the electrifying hi-jinks of Brian Eno bulldozing the swagger into the darkest corners of the cosmos.

K Flay with Special Guests @ 529

K.Flay’s new EP, Eyes Shut, is a response to apathy. Thematically, the disc’s five tracks offer a dialogue about what it means to care—and not care—in the twentysomething era. K.Flay, the moniker for San Francisco-based musician Kristine Flaherty, reacts to this generational indifference musically. Her spit-fire rhymes and distorted indie-electro production are infused with unabashed passion and thoughtful concern.

Coheed and Cambria W/ Between The Buried And Me, Russian Circles @ Tabernacle
Coheed And Cambria always promises to put on a great rock show! They released The Afterman: Descension in February.

Allison Weiss @ The Masquerade
Call it cliche but sometimes a musician’s inspiration can be broken down simply. Some are inspired by fame and money and some just want to tell their story to everyone. The latter is the best way to describe 25-year-old singer-songwriter Allison Weiss.

Eels @ Variety Playhouse
EELS’ just released new album Wonderful, Glorious on February 5, E Works/Vagrant Records.
