What’s Up Wednesday?

So I am in Nashville and going to the CMT awards show tonight, and I swear if you would have told me a year ago that I would be hanging in the country world, I would have told you that were high. Alas, I am though, and am actually coming to see just how fun these folks actually are. There are a TON of Georgia musicians nominated tonight, so be sure to watch the show! Here’s what’s happening in Atlanta tonight:

-Tonight at Phillip’s Arena catch the legendary, Neil Diamond performing all of the hits that cause support-panties to be thrown on stage.

Anoop Desai has shattered boundaries in Pop/R&B music with a voice that’s a force to be reckoned with and a new sound that is sure to captivate audiences across the world. Aiming his sights on a mix between Usher, Justin Timberlake, and Bruno Mars, Anoop finds his own sound by buttering his listeners up with smooth vocals and sweet hooks over blazing tracks. See him tonight at Smith’s Olde Bar with Von Grey.

Joe Pug recorded his latest album Chicago at Engine Recording Studio with producer Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Iron & Wine, Califone, etc). In addition to Pug, “The Great Despiser” features various acclaimed musicians, including Sam Kassirer (Josh Ritter, Langhorne Slim) on piano, organ and marimba, Califone’s Jim Becker on guitar, as well as backing vocals from The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn on the album’s title track. See him tonight at The Earl.

-Count on the Drunken Unicorn to always have the coolest shows with bands with quirky names. Tonight, check out Ringworm with Everything Went Black.

-West Georgia native, Brian Collins, fashions himself after the Zac Brown Band, Sugarland, and Lady A..Interesting. See for yourself tonight at Eddie’s Attic.

-Over at the Masquerade,  check out River City Extension, The Drowning Men, Ben Henderson Of The Vine.

-At Terminal West, a band hailed by Spin Magazine as “A must-hear artist,” Rubblebucket performing with guest Wowser Bowser.
