eisleyThree EP’s + two LP’s, 15 US tours, three UK tours & one Australia tour later, Sherri DuPree – vocals/guitars, Stacy DuPree – vocals/keys, Chauntelle DuPree – vocals/guitars, Weston DuPree (drums) and their cousin Garron DuPree – bass, are expanding/growing (median age – 22), hitting stride and persist in writing beautiful, lush, melody-charged pop songs, arguably have the best female vocals in the biz’ and continue to win hearts and minds from a broad, growing demographic.

Eisley’s undaunted commitment to their own unique, visually imaginative brand of song-crafting has both nurtured their base and shielded them from mass homogenization. With the recent release of their newest album “Currents”, Eisley hit the road with Say Anything to share their new (& AWESOME) tunes! We caught up with vocalist/guitarist Sherri Dupree before the band plays the Masquerade tomorrow, June 13. Check out what she had to say!

What’s the first gig you ever attended?

The Judds. Yep… When I was about 8 years old. My mom took my older sister (Eisley guitarist/singer Chauntelle) to see them at The Oil Palace in Tyler, TX. We got to go to the Western goods store before the show and pick out new Wrangler jeans in whatever color we wanted (she chose turquoise, I chose purple) and new cowboy hats. It was pretty much the best day of my life…Not the coolest concert ever but probably what made me decide I wanted to be in a band.

What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?

Every time we head out on stage, I genuinely try to make it the best gig I’ve ever played. I think every audience deserves to have the ‘best show ever’…I often fail; miss notes, flub chords…but if I don’t put my ALL into every show then I always regret it afterwards. But I think when you have that mindset, It really ends up making almost every show the ‘best gig you ever played’.

What is the best gig you have ever seen?

The first one that really impacted me was seeing Sunny Day Real Estate when I was 17 in Dallas, TX. My dad took me because they were (and still are) one of my favorite bands. It was their ‘Rising Tide’ tour…I just remember it changed my life. I remember watching the guitar player Dan Hoerner and he was just smiling the whole time he played. It made me realize I didn’t have to be afraid to show how much joy playing music brings me on stage.

Gig you would most like to play?

I want to play Red Rocks Amphitheater again in Denver, CO! We played there on the Coldplay tour years ago and I’ve always wanted to go back. It was so gorgeous.

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?

Paul McCartney, Radiohead, Sunny Day Real Estate

Make sure to catch Eisley along with Say Anything at the Masquerade (Heaven) this Thursday, June 13th!
