Best known for their hits like, “Your Life is a Lie,” “Kids,” and “Electric Feel,” MGMT has been in the game since 2002. Well, they kind of accidently stumbled into the game. Ben Goldwasser, one of the founding members of the group, put it like this, “It just came from us hanging out, messing around, making songs. After a while we had two or three songs, and then it was four, and then at some point we just kind of realized we had a band. Without ever actually deciding to form a band.” Goldwasser, alongside Andrew Van Wyngarden, formed the group during their freshman year at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, initially declaring themselves as “The Management.” The original name was short-lived, but luckily for us, the band wasn’t. By the time graduation rolled around, the guys were taking their music seriously and were able to release of their first EP in 2005, titled Time to Pretend. MGMT’s first full-length debut album, Oracular Spectacular, came two years later in 2007. Most recently, in 2013, the duo released a self-titled album, one of their most popular to date.

Join MGMT as they take the stage at Party in The Park on Saturday, May 17th in Centennial Olympic Park. The group will shared the stage with other must-see acts, including Girl Talk, The Joy Formidable, Minus The Bear and Stokeswood. If you absolutely cannot wait until Saturday to get your fill of MGMT, check out their website, twitter or facebook for more information.
