OURS returned to Atlanta on May 29th, playing at The Drunken Unicorn as part of their Ring The Bell tour in support of their new album Ballet The Boxer. The album, which drops June 11th, was widely funded by fans of the band via Pledge Music. Boxer is their first effort since 2008’s Mercy: Dancing For The Death Of An Imaginary Enemy and it’s been a long wait for their dedicated fans.

Lead singer Jimmy Gnecco thanked the audience for “being patient” as they performed primarily new material, but there was no need for apology because the crowd fell in love with the new songs such as “Been Down,” “Devil,” and “Boxer.” The band’s sound has evolved over the years and they have been through several line-up changes, but now they’ve emerged with a solid and strong bond as musicians.

Gnecco, who also has a successful solo career (2010’s The Heart), has proven throughout the years that he lives and breathes music. He is something of a perfectionist when it comes to performing and it shows with his incredible vocal range and the passion that exudes from his lyrics. He is dedicated to progressing with his band and at this point in time, OURS is poised to take the world by storm.

Along with the new songs, the set also included fan favorites like “Sometimes,” the band’s first song to hit the charts back in 1997, “God Only Wants You,” “Murder,” and “Here Is The Light,” which Jimmy dedicated to the late Jeff Buckley, his protege.
