Up and coming singer/songwriter D4vd brought his highly anticipated “Withered Tour” to the Coca-Cola Roxy located near the Braves Stadium Truist Park on Aug 15 in Atlanta, Georgia. With popular hits like “Feel it” from the Invincible series, “Romantic Homicide”, and “Here with me” this was bound to be a popular show.
Upon arriving at the venue was the endless line of people queued up waiting to get inside. His fan base was extremely diverse ranging from younger people who found him through tiktok to adults. His music has reached many demographics and it was on full display when being there.
The opener, Bryant Barnes, is another up and coming artist from Houston who also gained popularity through tiktok. He had a very melancholic R&B sound that resonated very well with the audience, which music was the perfect vibe setter for D4vd’s headlining show. The crowd also interacted a lot with him and gave him many gifts. One being a hand drawn photo of Bryant. Bryant Barnes’s music style paid homage to a lot of his influences such as Keshi and Joji and it’s quite clear when listening to him. We got a nice surprise as 4 unreleased songs were played that will be coming out later this year on his new album “Solace”.
The intro to D4vd’s set was an energetic jolt that breathed new life into the crowd. He burst onto the stage running and immediately getting into the performance. The stage production was decorated similarly to his “Withered” album artwork with roses, vines and columns. Every song was performed with a live band which added so much depth and authenticity to the performance. The production on the guitars and drums were tight and crisp, especially on the slower tempo songs. You could feel how balanced the mix was. The backing band’s stage
presence was also immense and powerful. D4vd had a very funny stage presence and made many jokes with the crowd about labubu’s and matcha. Bryant Barnes was brought back onstage for their collaboration song and it was very positively received. “Feel It” was next, which
captivated the crowd by its upbeat and catchy nature. The type of song that makes you want todrop everything and dance. His last song of the night “ Romantic Homicide” was a very melancholic and somber end to the night with its emotionally charged lyrics and slow tempo
beat.
