Happy Monday, Atlanta! Here’s what’s happing tonight!
Songwriter’s Open Mic at Eddie’s Attic
For over 20 years, we’ve hosted Atlanta’s premiere SONGWRITER’S OPEN MIC for the performing songwriter. National and local acts perform 2 songs each, with 3 finalists returning for a third song at the end of the evening for a chance to win a cash prize and a spot in our bi-annual, nationally acclaimed Open Mic Shootout. This is a great opportunity for up and coming talent to hone their skills and for listeners to see and meet tomorrow’s stars.
General admission tickets are $5 in advance, $6 at the door. Table seats are $6.25 each and must be purchased in multiples of 4. Online, phone, and outlet sales close at 5pm on the day of the show. Doors open at 7pm.
Catch 23: Atlanta’s Friendliest Comedy Death Match at The EARL
3 Teams. 23 Minutes. 4 Rounds. Because nothing says “hilarious comedy” like a series of numbers. Catch 23 is an improvised Comedy Deathmatch. Three teams of improvisers battle it out in four rounds. They each have 23 minutes to use over the course of the night – no more; no less – with nothing but a 1 minute warning to guide them. Each scene is judged on a ten point scale with five points given by the audience and five by a hell judge.
Tickets are $5. Online, phone, and outlet sales close at 6pm on the day of the show. Doors open at 8:30pm.
White Lung w/ special guests at 529
After more than a year of touring behind Sorry — which won raves from Pitchfork, Rolling Stone and Interview —White Lung slimmed down to a three piece in the studio; drummer Anne-Marie Vassiliou and guitarist Kenneth William would fly in from Vancouver to hash out arrangements with Way in person, often right before it was time to record; the album was made with Gander in two ten day-long sessions at the end of last year and the start of this one. (William handled bass duties on Fantasy; Wax Idols’ Hether Fortune will take up bass and backing vocal duties on tour for the foreseeable future.)
Tickets are $10. Online, phone, and outlet sales close at 6pm on the day of the show. Doors open at 9pm.
