The Melvins @ The Loft

The Melvins kicked off their 30th Anniversary tour roughly two weeks ago and they hit Atlanta tonight! Joining Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover and Coady Willis will be Butthole Surfers’ bass player Jeff Pinkus, temporarily filling in for Jared Warren who will be on paternity leave. The band Honky will open up for the Melvins! Come out and celebrate the anniversary of this awesome band!

Songwriter’s Open Mic @ Eddie’s Attic

For over 19 years, Eddie’s Attic has hosted Atlanta’s premiere SONGWRITER’S OPEN MIC for the performing songwriter. National and local acts perform 2 songs each, with 3 finalists returning for a third song at the end of the evening for a chance to win a cash prize and a spot in the bi-annual, nationally acclaimed Open Mic Shootout. This is a great opportunity for up and coming talent to hone their skills and for listeners to see and meet tomorrow’s stars.

After releasing a debut cassette in May titled Yeah I Know, bassist Ian Deaton (God’s Balls), guitarist Jon Allinson (Abby GoGo), and singer/drummer Kylee Kimbrough have been on a secret tear. Over the last two years, the sound and vision of the group known as Dasher has grown with a dark and experimental approach to crafting raw, noise-pop dirges. The band has been working on a three-song 7-inch set to release this fall/winter via Atlanta’s long-standing Die Slaughterhaus Records. Show is FREE. Doors @ 9pm. 21+.
