Wainwright Roche spent her formative years traveling with and amongst her large musical family. After high school, she attended Oberlin College in Ohio, earned a Master’s degree in education at Bank Street College of Education in Manhattan, and eventually began teaching second and third grade. In 2005 and 2006, she joined brother Rufus on tour to sing backup, and by 2007 had ditched the classroom for good and released an eight song, debut CD. Tours followed with the likes of Dar Williams, Neko Case, and Amos Lee, and critics began mentioning her in the same breath as Joni Mitchell and Patty Griffin. Wainwright Roche’s first, full-length recording, Lucy, arrived in 2010. See her perform live tonight!

The singer-songwriter is based in American Fork—where he co-owns Northplatte Records—and pens these songs from his personal spiritual epicenter, Willamette Mountain. In From the Top of Willamette Mountain, James deals in the currency of mysticism, trading thoughts of life’s repressiveness and his misgivings about organized religion for a search for the holy, a personal quest for transcendence or something similar. He does it openly on this, his third album.

Formed at the edge of the new millennium, Maserati is as sleek, sexy and sophisticated as the legendary Italian sports car it takes its name from. It is fitting, then, that the band has dragged the glory years of psychedelic arena rock kicking and screaming into the 21st Century, with the pomposity (and vocals) carefully removed. In its place are white hot flashes of light pulsing to an unstoppable rhythm that will make you want to punch air and drive really fast in a car with wings instead of doors.

We see ourselves as a band influenced by our personal idols such as The Who, The Kinks, the Memphis and Detroit Stax Motown experience and as always throw in a little of the staples like Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and, yes, a little John Denver. We do it for the love of it and I think it shows.”
