Interview: Melissa Ferrick @ Eddie’s Attic 8/24

largeSince her time as an alt-rock symbol in the ’90s (alongside Liz Phair and PJ Harvey), Melissa Ferrick has developed a raw, rootsy sound. Her latest release, the truth is, showcases the eight-time Boston Music Award winner’s new sound set to a sweeping Americana/alt-country soundtrack that is some of the lushest and brightest material of her 20 year catalog.

We were lucky enough to catch up with Melissa Ferrick before her double-header at Eddie’s Attic this Saturday!

What’s the first gig you ever attended?

I saw Culture Club on my own when I was only 13. Plus, 10,000 maniacs opened!

What is the best gig that you ever performed?

That’s a hard one! I’d have to go with the Bowery Ballroom on the Sunday after 9/11. The Double Door at Chicago in 2003 is a close second.

What is the best gig you have ever seen?

Definitely Bruce Springsteen at the Boston Garden in 2007

Gig you would most like to play?

Open for Bruce Springsteen. Plus some festivals I’ve never played like High Sierra and Bonnaroo.

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?

To tour “in the round” with a group of songwriters, some who I know some who I don’t.

Melissa Ferrick plays at Eddie’s Attic on 8/24 with an early show at 7 PM and a late show at 9 PM
