What’s Up Wednesday?

Happy mid-week Atlanta! Here’s your choices if you feel like going out and getting squirrelly tonight.

-Oh, it’s gonna be happening at The Tabernacle tonight, where Slash, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, Foxy Shazam will be getting everyone to feel like a rockstar.

-Our friends at Center Stage always know how to bring in the coolest music. Tonight is no exception Nightwish and Kamelot.

-I am sort of ashamed to admit it, but I drink Rockstar energy drinks, almost every morning, so I sure people will be bouncing around tonight as Aaron’s Amphitheatre presents Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival: Shinedown, Godsmack, Staind.

-Alternately explosive and restrained, the aptly titled The Bloom and the Blight is a meditation on past and present – melodic fury matched with the eloquent, confessional lyricism that has made Two Gallants an enduring favorite of both fans and critics. They are playing Terminal West tonight.

-When I was in NYC a lot, several times I caught a band whose live show was like nothing I had ever seen. Black Taxi is one of NYC’s most prominent live acts, smashing an anything-goes punk ethos together with pop sensibilities, unparalleled energy, and brilliant songwriting. See them tonight at 529.

-The late Memphis producer Jim Dickinson once called Jimbo Mathus “the singing voice of Huck Finn.” Outside the South, Mathus is likely known as the ringleader of the hyper-ragtime outfit Squirrel Nut Zippers; he will be entertaining the masses tonight at The Earl.

-“It’s a welcome thing that Seth Walker’s chosen to pitch his tent in Americana. On his latest—Time Can Change—Walker has a way with smooth and swinging phrasing and makes classically accessible up-front pleas.” – Nashville Scene Catch him tonight at Eddie’s Attic.

-Tonight over at The Drunken Unicorn, you can catch Adam WarRock w/ Mikal kHill.

-Since the band’s formation over 5 years ago, Paper Bird has been playing it’s joyful blend of folk, roots, and americana to delighted audiences across the country. They will be twanging it up tonight at Smith’s Olde Bar.
