Win Tickets & 5GB Interivew with Gashcat; Playing at Peachtree Tavern, Thursday November 8th.

Gashcat started in the summer of 2010 as a three piece fuzz band from Austin, TX. After releasing their first EP, which was recorded on a magic tape machine found in the middle of the woods in Mississippi, they kicked off their beginnings with a West Coast tour. Since then, they’ve done an additional three West Coast tours and released their debut full length, Reunion! Gashcat’s live performances began to shift from a fuzzed out folk trio towards a raucous, carnivalesque collective of friends based loosely out of Louisiana. After releasing Reunion!, Gashcat signed a publishing deal with Sub Pop Records and has been featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered after their several performances at SXSW. Now Gashcat is a sextet of fuzz, acoustic guitars, noise, organs, drums, and synthesizers living in Shreveport, LA and putting together songs for their next release.

What’s the first gig you ever attended?

I went with parents to see The Beach Boys when I was really young. I can barely remember.

What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?

Playing The Warby Parker Citizen Circus last SXSW was fun. We were excited about playing the Sub Pop Records showcase too.

What is the best gig you have ever seen?

I’m not really sure. I saw The Music Tapes with Olivia Tremor Control in Austin… That was pretty neat. That’s a difficult question though.

What gig you would most like to play?

I would like to do a tour on a riverboat down the Mississippi and pull up on the banks and play from the boat to people sitting on the shore. Yeah… That’d be really something.

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?

Aside from the whole riverboat thing that will never happen… Realistically, I would gather my close friends’ bands and paint up a bus or two and map out a big cross country tour. Very Magic Trip-esque. The line up would be Gashcat, Engine, Ghost Foot, Animal Eyes, and Underhill Family Orchestra. Probably a few more too. Just friends.

See Gashcat this Thursday at Peachtree Tavern with The Roycrofters. Tickets are $8 at the door.
