Eddie’s Attic is one of metro Atlanta’s best-known listening rooms, located upstairs in the heart of Downtown Decatur. Since opening in 1992, the intimate venue has built a national reputation for singer-songwriters, acoustic performances and emerging artists, while also hosting established touring acts.
The music room is designed for close listening rather than a typical bar-show atmosphere, with a small stage, strong acoustics and a capacity of about 175 people.

Eddie’s Attic History
Eddie’s Attic, opened in 1992 by Eddie Owen and has become one of Atlanta’s most important songwriter venues. It has been credited with launching the careers of the Indigo Girls, Shawn Mullins, John Mayer, Sugarland, the Zack Brown Band, and the Civil Wars. Its long-running Open Mic Shootout has helped introduce new artists to Atlanta audiences and remains a key part of the venue’s identity. Eddie sold it to Todd Van Sickle in the spring of 2002. Todd later sold it to Bob Ephlin in May 2005. One of Ephlin’s first moves was to ask Owen to return to run the bar and booking. Concert promoter Alex Cooley and his business partner and long time friend, former Delta Captain, Dave Mattingly, purchased Eddie’s Attic in December 2011 from Bob with Owen remaining to help them book acts. Owen was later fired by new Eddie’s Attic owner Alex Cooley. Owen said that Cooley wanted him to end his involvement with the Red Clay Theatre and devote his efforts to Eddie’s Attic. He was fired after he refused, Owen said. After Cooley’s passing in 2015, Andrew Hingley became co-owner of Eddie’s Attic.
