In my opinion, October is the perfect month to attend a concert at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. The cool, crisp air creates a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. I was so thrilled to have the opportunity to review fun. on Tuesday, October 8th. The last time I saw them in Atlanta, they opened up for Panic! At The Disco at the Tabernacle. It was an incredible show then and I expected them to be nothing short of amazing this time around.

My co-worker, Johanna and I, were lucky to get there half way through the set of one of the openers, Hunter Hunted. To be honest, I had never heard of the band before, but I’m so glad I got to catch four or five songs from their set! Let me just tell you, these indie rockers captured the audience’s attention for the entire 45 minutes they were on stage. They owned that stage. I loved their energy, their pop-infused, dancy songs and their catchy lyrics. Check out fan favorite “Keep Together” off their self-titled EP. Trust me, if you haven’t heard of Hunter Hunted yet, you’ll get to know them well pretty soon.

fun. hit the stage around 9:30pm and the crowd went wild! Not only are fun.’s songs energetic and powerful, but their live performances are just as electric. We were surrounded by young girls dancing and singing along to every word of every song. With older hits from their album, “Aim and Ignite” like “All The Pretty Girls” and “At Least I’m Not As Sad (As I Used To Be) and newer songs from “Some Nights” like “Some Nights (Intro)”, “Carry On” and of course, crowd favorite, “We Are Young”, it was a contagious set.

I’ve had a blast both times I’ve seen fun. live in Atlanta. Lead vocalist, Nate Ruess even mentioned their first time playing in Atlanta at the Drunken Unicorn. From playing a small, neighborhood venue to playing a huge outdoor amphitheatre, fun. continues to get audiences on their feet dancing and singing. They’ve grown tremendously over the past few years and in my opinion, they deserve every bit of attention they have received.

fun.
