The Whiskey Gentry Form Out of the Ashes of Missy Gossip and the Secret Keepers

TheWhiskeyGentry

About a year ago, local music fans in Atlanta were a-buzz with word about this new band, Missy Gossip and the Secret Keepers. Their mix of down-home country style mixed with the hipness of indie rock made them a huge draw for gigs at The EARL and Star Bar. But all has been quiet with them for a little while, and no wonder, since the band broke up and now their leader Lauren Staley has a new group, The Whiskey Gentry, which promises to kick just as much butt as her last group.

The band is in the middle of recording music, and there's no MySpace to check out yet, but they will be performing a Team Luis show at the Star Bar on May 30 with John Paul Keith & The One Four Fives and
Little Joe Jr., so you can check them out then. Their sound supposedly keeps with the punkish rock that made Missy Gossip so popular, with influences ranging from Social Distortion to Hank Williams.
