Catch 23: Atlanta’s Friendliest Comedy Death Match @ The Earl

Catch 23 is an improvised Comedy Deathmatch. Three teams of improvisers battle it out in four rounds. They each have 23 minutes to use over the course of the night – no more; no less – with nothing but a 1 minute warning to guide them. Each scene is judged on a ten point scale with five points given by the audience and five by a hell judge.

Chappo @ Vinyl

Chappo first became cause célèbre for lovers of fuzzy space rock when a song from their self released Plastique Universe EP, “Come Home” inexplicably landed in an Apple iPod commercial, and was called “an excellently overstuffed garage-psych sound” by Pitchfork. They followed up by independently releasing another concept EP, Plastique Universe II: Pisces Princess, continuing their rambunctious place in the Brooklyn DIY scene. 2012 saw new milestones, including the release of their debut album Moonwater on Majordomo Records, touring with indie luminaries Of Montreal, and playing major festivals including Bonnaroo and Osheaga.

Jimmie’s Chicken Shack @ Peachtree Tavern

Jimmie’s Chicken Shack is an American alternative rock band from Annapolis, Maryland. They emerged through MTV as one of the first Post-Grunge bands of the era. Jimmie’s Chicken Shack was discovered in 1994 and subsequently managed by their producer Richard James Burgess.

Songwriter’s Open Mic @ Eddie’s Attic

For over 19 years, Eddie’s Attic has hosted Atlanta’s premiere Songwriter’s Open Mic for the performing songwriter. National and local acts perform 2 songs each, with 3 finalists returning for a third song at the end of the evening for a chance to win a cash prize and a spot in our bi-annual, nationally acclaimed Open Mic Shootout. This is a great opportunity for up and coming talent to hone their skills and for listeners to see and meet tomorrow’s stars.
