What’s Up Thursday? February 6

300x300Two spectacular Atlanta-based songstresses will belt out original tunes tonight at Eddie’s and Smith’s if you’re into that. If not, plenty of touring bands will be rocking out around town as well. Choose wisely!

Sydney Rhame @ Eddie’s Attic

We last saw her when she opened for Jamie Lynn Spears in December. This fifteen-year-old singer-songwriter from Decatur began writing music and lyrics at age six. Sydney Rhame is an accomplished guitarist and pianist who has performed for more than 200 audiences throughout the country since age eight but Eddie’s will always be her second home.

Sarah Michaud w/ Jeremy Wayne Dean @ Smith’s Olde Bar

Another young Atlanta artist will take the stage at Smith’s and celebrate the release of her five track EP, “More Than Ordinary.” Some may describe her sound as soulful indie pop, a sumptuous blend of Paramore’s Hayley Williams and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder.

Doors at 7pm. Tickets are $12.

The Unlikely Candidates w/ The Vagabonds @ Vinyl

The Unlikely Candidates Kyle Morris and Cole Male forged a musical partnership in the most improbable of places: each booked as juveniles on a count of grand theft auto. Ending up at the same high school later that year, Morris and Male soon threw themselves into a collaboration rooted in their mutual love of gritty garage rock and guitar-fueled British Invasion pop. Now, ten years later, Morris and Male serve as lead vocalist and guitarist for The Unlikely Candidates, a Fort Worth-based five-piece that brings a refined indie sensibility to the raw energy of rock music.

Doors at 7pm. Tickets are $12.

Dead Meadow formed in 1998 with Jason Simon on vocals and guitar, Steve Kille on bass, and Mark Laughlin on drums. The threesome initially met in the DC indie music scene and a few years later began to combine 70’s hard rock and 60’s psychedelic rock with themes from authors such as Lord Dunsany and H. P. Lovecraft – a winning combination!
