Connor & Spirko: Storytellers Unplugged with special guest Wade Sapp @ Eddie’s Attic
Connor Christian was born in Los Angeles, but before he was a teenager, had lived in South Korea, Indonesia and Belgium. At the age of 14, Connor Christian left home with a guitar and a backpack, and continued his travel and musical growth in Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, South America and even Africa. By the time he settled in Atlanta, GA in 1996, his life and his music were steeped in culture and influence from his well-traveled youth, and a tradition of diversity. Multi-instrumentalist and Syracuse, New York native Jeff Spirko joined him in 2010. Spirko moves with ease between guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle and piano, but he’s not alone in his multi-instrumental talent. Christian, in addition to his vocal duties, plays guitar, piano and mandolin, and Martin plays piano and mandolin when not blistering the neck of her fiddle. The band’s ability to move between so many instruments adds not only a great dynamic to the music, but a level of excitement to their live show as well. The show starts at 8pm and doors open at 6:30pm. Advance general admission tickets are $8 and $12 at the door. A table of four reserved seats is $40.

Majical Clouds with Moon King @ The Earl

Majical Cloudz is music and performance. Rooted in solo material written by Devon Welsh between rural Ontario and Montreal, he joined with Matthew Otto to collaboratively produce and perform the music. Their performance is deeply expressive — strong vocals sit on top of washes of white noise, filtered synths and sparse thuds. The songs are intensely lyrical, oriented around themes of death, patience, family, and desire. The live show celebrates the joy in sadness and the value of a shared musical experience. 8:30 PM / $10 ADV / 21+

Muse with Cage the Elephant @ Gwinnett Arena
It’s hard to imagine a more rapturous critical reception than the one poured out for the U.K. trio Muse has released their third album, and Warner Bros. debut, Absolution. The Daily Mirror declared, “Dazzling,” and the Guardian gushed, “Utterly beguiling.” Muse with Cage the Elephant will be appearing on September 4 at The Arena at Gwinnett Center. Consider this: With a recent nomination for Best Rock Group at the prestigious Brits (the U.K. version of the Grammys) and a sold-out international arena tour that has taken them through Europe, Australia, and Japan, Muse arrives in America with an album where “every track is built on a gigantic scale” (The Times). Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 7pm.
