AMG Weekend Picks: Big Boi, HOToberFest, Deerhunter and More!

Oh hurrah for fall! Hurrah for fall weather! Hurrah for the start of fall beer festival! There are so many things to celebrate this weekend – and the start of October is just one of those things. We’ve got some great local stars playing packed homecoming gigs, metal legends, food and beer festivals, and of course your round-up of on-sales.

Thursday, September 30 – Big Boi at The Tabernacle

Welcome home Big Boi! We’ve been missing your crazy trippy videos and smart style, bow-ties and all. We hope that there will be some cool Dungeon Family cameos at his show tonight, as well as the usual killer flow of Mr. Patton himself.

Friday, October 1 – Deerhunter at Variety Playhouse

Local neo-psychedelia heroes Deerhunter will be celebrating the release of their well-received new record Halcyon Digest on Friday night.

Friday, October 1 – Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax at Gwinnett Arena

Want a night of metal? Need to have your eardrums bleeding a little? Yearning for the days when your radness was judged by the height of your hair? Then get your fix of metal nostalgia with giants Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax on Friday night.

Saturday, October 2 – HOToberFest at Glenwood Park Neighborhood

Hundreds of craft beers, delicious local food (including sizzling brats!), great music – all in one place! You can hang around the free area and dig the music, or pay for a ticket and get to sample all the beers.

Saturday, October 2 – 2nd Annual Bar-B-Q Festival at Atlantic Station

It’s the perfect weather to get into some wonderfully cooked meat, and BBQ is basically the best you can get. Sample from over 50 restaurants and backyard competitors who will be serving up their own special blend of que.
