Here’s a quick look at some of the best events Atlanta has to offer this weekend Thursday, September 20th through Sunday, September 23rd!
Moogfest Presents: Juana Molina at The Earl
Thursday, September 20th at 8:00pm
“On her excellent new album, Juana Molina continues shedding formal pop structures to reveal more of her own artistic voice. Her occultish narrative is defined not by words, but by moods.”
“Ever-experimental artist Juana Molina is known for creating distinct and bewitching music that defies genre. Using looping technology to layer propulsive guitar strumming, clanging percussion and her ethereal vocals on top of one another, she creates a whirling, hypnotic and often gorgeous musical tapestries.” – BrooklynVegan
Future Generations w/ Zuli + Dot.s at The Earl
Friday, September 21st at 8:30pm
The second full-length from Future Generations, Landscape emerged from the kind of playful creativity only possible among the closest collaborators. Five friends who all live together in Brooklyn, Future Generations brought Landscape to life by balancing their pop-minded songcraft with bursts of free-form experimentation: recording guitar riffs from the receiving end of a phone call, messing with a vintage synthesizer called the Fun Machine, building percussion tracks by sampling a batch of drum-circle recordings. So while the album’s abundance of hooky melodies makes each song immediately catchy, Landscape unfolds with an intricacy of detail that reveals more nuance and depth with every new listen.

Breathers Album Release Party w/ Video Age, Celia Verbeck & Shouldies at 529
Saturday, September 22nd at 9:00pm
Think back to the ’80s. What kind of things come to mind? Neon-colored clothing? 8-bit video games? VHS tapes? All of these things and more first came to my mind when I first heard the Atlanta-based band, Breathers.
Breathers was formed in Atlanta and have been on the rise over the course of the last year. Their synthesizer-heavy and bright melodies evoke the early 1980s to a tee, without sounding dated or something that’s already been done. Now the band is ready to release Designed To Break, their debut full-length album with an Album Release Party to match the hype.
