Oasis – The Salmon King

In a recent interview in Q Magazine, Liam proclaimed himself the Salmon King, on account of his new favourite food. (apparently he was told it helps him live longer, so much so that if Yoko were to turn up at his house he’d probably even make her a salmon stir-fry… read the interview.. it’s great). If Ian Brown is the King Monkey, I guess King Salmon isn’t bad, especially if that makes Damon Alburn King Twat.

Oasis release their new CD today Dig Out Your Soul. Taken from a line often heard mumbled by DJ’s looking for ‘that’ record, Dig Out Your Soul is the band’s 7th studio CD. I don’t care for all the deep overly crafted reviews that others take… so here’s the Oasis fan/Man On The Street’s review. For those of you on the fence, find it at Best Buy or Target for $9.99, buy it and shut the f**k up.

Of the 11 tracks on the album, this is the magic.. Shock Of The Lightning, The Turning, Falling Down, I’m Outta Time, Bag It Up, Ain’t Got Nothing, Soldier On, Waiting For the Rapture. This is the crap.. Get Off Your (High Horse Lady) stupid title, even worse song, To Be Where There’s Life, (give it back to Kulashaker — they wouldn’t even want it) & The Nature Of Reality (boring, sounds like it was left over from Don’t Believe The Truth)

Shock of the Lightning is truly brilliant, a return to old form and a rocking track. I can’t wait to hear this live (Chicago 12/12!) You can just imagine the crowd going mental. Liam’s I’m Outta Time is perfect. As the ballad of the CD it could be the best song he’s ever written. The Turning grows into another live anthem, Falling Down is just another really good song with a great vocal from Noel and a really memorable chorus (also check out The Chemical Brothers remix). Bag It Up is your typical solid Oasis filler, as are Ain’t Got Nothing, Soldier On, Waiting For the Rapture.

I give this CD 4/5 – if you fancy spending $100, get the deluxe box set. It’s got 2 cd’s, 4 bits of vinyl, a dvd and a fancy book. Otherwise, just spend $9.99 at Best Buy – you won’t be disappointed. Oasis are back… and it’s about time.
