On the heels of their success with 2014’s Sway LP (Graveface Records), the Bay Area formed quintet Whirr have announced a line of US tour dates this April. Joining them on the road will be Adventures, Wildhoney, and Wild Moth.

If any band has the capability to make a presence rather than the stage, it’s Whirr. The more they play, the more impressive they become. With their steady ebb and flow of warm, effects-laden sounds, the band gives the sounds of 90’s shoegaze a widescreen update for the post-millennial era. Their walls of lush guitars, breathy vocals, dreamy synth and thunderous drumming propel listening ears into a near-cinematic realm where instantly catchy melodies and emotional, enveloping atmospheres hang perfectly in the balance.

After touring with Philadelphia band Nothingbassist Nick Bassett and Nothing’s Dominic Palermo formed a band called Death of Lovers, moving Bassett to the East coast and taking a permanent post as bassist for Nothing. Hence Sway was written on both coasts. Sway is the most fleshed-out full-sounding release from the band to date, and has quickly become a monumental success with fans and critics alike.
