What’s Up Thursday?

You know I used to think getting up early was for the birds, but now I kind of like it! I wonder if that just means I am getting really old….Atlanta, there are SO many cool events happening this weekend that you seriously might want to get your planner out now!

-One of the most amazing live shows, with one of the sexiest voices in music Chris Isaak is at The Cobb Energy Center tonight!

-Electronica act Owl City, got described by Pitchfork as “The surprise No. 1 single in the country, Owl City’s ‘Fireflies,’ jacks the Postal Service in such a bald-faced, obvious manner that getting into specifics feels redundant at best and tacky at worst.” SO if Pitchfork hates you, you must be amazing, right? Decide for yourself tonight at Center Stage.

-On the heels of Todos Somos Ilegales, New York City’s Outernational is releasing ‘Future Rock’, a hard hitting guitar-driven EP produced by Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine, The Nightwatchman). “There’s part New York City rock & roll band in them, and then there’s the myriad of world music influences that drives these songs,” said Morello in Rolling Stone’s feature on Outernational’s We Are All Illegals music video, filmed along the US-Mexico border and including cameos from 100 fans, Tom Morello, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Residente Calle 13. ‘Future Rock’ promises a new set of blistering rock and roll anthems, filled with defiant lyrics, trumpet battle cries and infectious rhythms. See them tonight at Vinyl.

-Described as “A destined classic for garage snobs, crusties, and rock & roll visionaries… this record rocks harder than you do, dickhead -Bazooka Joe,” Seattle’s The Spits are at The Earl tonight with Nashville rockers, Turbo Fruits.

-Austin rockers, Quiet Company, have toured with the likes of the Old 97’s, The Toadies, and Alpha Rev, and will be rocking it up Texas-style tonight at The Drunken Unicorn.

-Last year, Tri Angle introduced the world to BALAM ACAB (aka Alec Koone), and his otherworldly, secretive sound of submerged bass and phantom vocal harmonies, with the release of his universally acclaimed debut EP ‘See Birds.’ WIth a new album out, catch Balam tonight at the 529.

-Alabama female rocker, Kristy Lee, will be at Eddie’s Attic this evening.

-There’s a triage of good tunes coming out of Peachtree Tavern tonight where Lux Noise, Sound On Film w/ Thom Chapman will be playing.

-Throw down for one hell of a hip hop party at Smith’s Olde Bar for Red Cup Party w/ Playboy Tre, & Sean Faylon.

-Park Tavern at Piedmont Park presents “Unfiltered Live” featuring Waller.

-If you are headed to the Masquerade, you can check out Mike Keneally and Rick Musallam
