5 GB With Jessie Baylin; Playing Smith’s Olde Bar, March 6

By Eileen Tilson

She may be married to a King, but Jessie Baylin is a musician equally worthy of her own spotlight. With a voice that brings back the starry, intimate qualities of the early 60’s female folk singers, Jessie Baylin mesmerizes her audiences with her sultry voice and sweet demeanor….And the fact that her biggest fan/husband just happens to be Nathan Followill of the Kings of Leon doesn’t’ hurt as well. We chatted with Ms. Baylin before her show tomorrow night at Smith’s Olde Bar.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

I went and saw  Lauryn Hill at The Garden State Arts Center.

What is the best gig that you ever played/performed at?

Probably when I played Bonnaroo in 2010.

What is the best gig you have ever been to?

Definitely when I saw Randy Newman at the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

Gig you would most like to play?

I would play any gig as long as it was at Red Rocks.

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?

In my dreams, opening for Dusty Springfield at the Hollywood Bowl would be pretty epic.

Catch Jessie Baylin tomorrow night at Smith’s Olde Bar
